We celebrated 75 years in 2021!

In spite of the limitations imposed by COVID-19, Dorion Bible Camp celebrated with a variety of programs and activities over their 75th anniversary year. With the creativity of our staff, summer volunteers and others, new outdoor events were planned, making this special year both exciting and successful.

Some of the highlights from this special year: Four outdoor camping sessions were held during the summer, where campers slept in individual tents and dined outdoors. There were daily chapel sessions in a large tent, as well as swimming, canoeing, paintball, and more. It was great to see campers at DBC, filling the air with laughter and voices.  There were a number of family groups who came to DBC and even a wedding!

Campers found a natural slide down a muddy river bank into Cold Water Creek. They had so much fun they could have stayed there all day! Some even saw a black bear swimming in our canoe landing.

For many staff, supporters and past campers, the 75th anniversary celebration held in August was their highlight. Thanks to Joel Brigham, who was guest speaker at this event. Joel commented, “I had an exceptional time at Dorion Bible Camp’s 75th anniversary celebration. It brought me back to so many years ago when I spent every summer at camp, learning how to lead, making great friends, having tons of fun and growing in my faith. The songs sung and seeing the faces of people I haven’t seen in person for a long time were highlights for me. I am grateful for and a direct result of the history of the ministry that DBC has done for so many years. Thank you!” Guest Jody Tauro shared these thoughts: “My first memories go back to the summer of 1963. Visiting this past August, sitting and looking out on the bay, I had a chance to reminisce about others that followed that first summer. It’s where it all began for me as a Christian. Here’s to the next 75 years. Congratulations DBC!”

Thanks to Richard Pepper and The Transparencies (Darren Foulds and Robin Harbron) for providing music during this anniversary event. They commented on what a highlight it was for them to get back together and play the old camp songs that they had performed at camp many years ago. Richard enjoyed walking around the property, visiting “special spots”,   and shooting some archery while he was there.

Thanks to the many people that made this and the other events of 2021 meaningful and successful. And thanks to a great God who was the master designer of Dorion Bible Camp over 75 years! He answered many prayers and provided great gifts.

Projects

Projects

Camp has many projects on the go, however here are a couple of projects that we are actively fundraising for.

We appreciate your support.

  1. Yurts are a cost effective way to begin developing outdoor cabins for summer camp. We have one on site to be used starting summer 2025 but we would like to add a second one as we expand our capacity and move our cabin groups out from inside Eagles Nest.
  2. We have recently replaced the risers around our fire pit and still need to finish staining and sealing them.
  3. The wrap around deck needs to be resealed.
  4. Eagles Nest many windows have been scraped clean so that they can be repainted this fall.
